Just wanted to say that I walked a mile today.
Three weeks ago it was tough to get from the hospital bed to the bathroom a few feet away.
Things are looking up! Maybe it won't be so crazy to make my post-op goal learning to roller skate well enough to try out for a derby team one day.

Excellent!! I am so happy to read that. You should be so proud of yourself. Keep moving and I hope you get some roller skates for the holidays.

I'm also a mother of two and I was just diagnosed with an AN. Reading your blog made me cry, laugh, and totally admire you. Congratulations on your strength and I hope I can handle this half as well as you have.
ReplyDelete(Also, I started a blog of my own. It seems like a great way to chronicle the journey!)
Damn, straight, you'll be trying out for derby one day! I've been following your blog since just before your surgery, and you seem to be doing well :)
ReplyDeleteIf derby injuries are any indication of how frustrating other bodily recovery can be, I can imagine you're feeling like the forward progress is moving SO SLOW. But look back over your blog - you've actually accomplished a hell of a lot in a short time frame. You're bound to be in skates and trying out in no time!
Keep that positive outlook and keep having goals, and you're bound to keep move forward rapidly. Now, derby name???
oooh roller derby, I'll totally train with you!!!!!!! -Mandy
